Journal Page Complete

My first journal page is complete for "The Goddess and the Poet" class with Suzi Blu. I love this journal page so much and I really love working in a journal. I could never really understand what the purpose of an art journal was until now. I always thought it was a waste to work so hard on something that was just going to be closed most of the time, but I was so wrong. I feel so free when I work in it; like I'm more willing to take risks and have fun.I can't wait until it is all full and thick with embellishments. I'm going to sew in it and experiment with things that I wouldn't dare do on canvas or wood. Why did I wait so long to do this?? I think what finally sold me was that I feel like this would be something I could pass down to my son when he is an adult. I'm not so sure he would like to have paintings of girlies all over his bachelor pad, from his mommy. A journal would be something he could always have and put it wherever he wanted to.

If you don't have an art journal, I would HIGHLY recommend starting one.

I have just listed a BUNCH of new things in my shop...Whew! That took awhile!! I have added new prints, ACEO prints, bookmarks, some abstract work and I am so excited to reveal some of the new things I have been working on like....
A new paper mache box (see shop for more pictures and detailed description)
AND...This one I'm really excited about. This is a really cool gift idea for a pre-teen or teenager. It is a handpainted altered journal with a journal jar. The jar has over 90 journal prompts (see shop for more pictures and details).

PORTRAITS CLASS AND SHOP UPDATE!

I am taking yet ANOTHER online class (yes, I have a problem). I am taking Suzi Blu's "The Goddess and The Poet" class. We are learning more realistic portraits and how to use shading with pencil and then with colored pencils. This has been a little bit of a challenge for me. I get the concept of how to draw realistic noses and lips, but I am struggling with the placement of everything on the face so the girlie looks pretty. I am really enjoying this class because it is a challenge I needed right now. I don't want to get stuck in one way of drawing, I want to expand and continue to learn. So learn I will...

On Friday, I will have a HUGE shop update. I have been working on several different projects and I can't wait to reveal them. So stay tuned...

Lastly, I would like to thank everyone who commented on the last post about how to organize your creative ideas. It was very helpful to me...I LOVE my blog friends!!!

Some Finished Class Pieces

Here are my completed pieces (well almost; the first one still needs some journaling) for Monica Zuniga's online classes. I finally have an Art journal with a few pages completed...yay!!

I have so many other things I am working on right now it is becoming a little crazy! I have so many ideas in my head that I am having a hard time getting them out. I decided to start writing them down, but my list keeps getting longer and longer... I guess I will just have to pick and choose. Do you ever feel overwhelmed with ideas? Do you have any tips on how to organize those thoughts? There just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day...

New Painting...The Love Seeker

I decided to turn my drawing "The Heart Seeker" into a painting. Here is the result. I am very happy with how she turned out although I didn't really mean to make her look so sad.

I woodburned everything first and then I layered and layered and layered (you get the point). I used flock on top of the hearts and then finished off the piece with hot beeswax. I really like this girlie! I think I am going to try turning her into an art doll (but with a happier face).

I am also working on several items for a big update in my shop. I have been experimenting in some new things, so I will be offering things that I haven't before. Stay tuned for more information on my shop update.

BLOG GIVEAWAY...YAY!!!

I decided a long time ago that when I reached 100 subscribers, I would have a blog giveaway. Well, it finally happened. Over the weekend, I reached 101 subscribers!! Yay! I love meeting new blog friends and subscribe to probably over 100 blogs myself (one of my many online addictions).

Thank you so much to everyone who comes and visits my little corner of the Internet world. I really appreciate all of the comments people leave and am inspired by all of you in one way or another!!! Thanks again!!!

So, I am giving away a necklace (I have been experimenting with making my own necklaces). The necklace is a print of one of my original paintings called "Flower Girl." I am also going to include one of my new bookmarks (Liberty). Just leave a comment on this post and I will pick a winner next Monday (July 13th).

Have a great and artistic week!!
