I have been working hard in my Art Journal!! I want to finish this one so I can start a new one. I'm sort of sick of this one. I'm not sure why, but I just want to start fresh, do you ever feel that way? I think I am going to make a smaller one next time, because I am also sick of this size (it is a 9x12). This feeling of fickleness (is that a word?) is exactly how I am as an artist. I cannot stick to one style. I get easily bored and want to try all types of styles, mediums etc. People have told me that they can spot my style, but I still don't feel like I have honed in on one style. I guess my portraits are sort of recognizable, but everything else is different. As artists, do we have to have one style? I'm not so sure. I love to try new things and take different classes. It keeps me fresh.
Speaking of classes, I recently took the class
Art of Spring with Junelle Jacobsen. Have you seen her work? I am smitten with her simple yet captivating style. She paints a lot of animals because she works on a farm and is inspired by them. I decided to take her class because I wanted to branch out and do something different. I want to learn to draw other things like animals. The class was really fun and I am still working on some of the projects. It took me back to when I was a little girl and used to visit my Grandparent's farm. Both of my Grandparents are gone now, but I somehow felt re-connected with them through this art process. Especially my Grandmother who just loved animals (especially cows). Here are a few pieces I did from the class.
Hope you all had a joyful Easter!! I am off to work on that Art Journal!
