Little Gnome Homes!!!

Ok, somebody stop me... The inspiration at Etsy is taking over my life!! There are so many talented artists there and I am getting so many ideas. I made these polymer clay houses this weekend that were inspired by some artists from Etsy. One of which is the very talented Jenn Mcglon from Noodle and Lou. Jenn makes these cute little houses and calls them "Lulettes." Every time she makes them and puts them in her Etsy shop they are gone faster than you can blink an eye! I decided I would try and make my own since I can never get there fast enough to buy one of Jenns. I have never worked with polymer clay, so I really didn't have a clue as to what I was doing. Overall, I am happy with the way they turned out and they look really cute in my living room.

"WICKED"

So you know that I love Suzi Blu and read her blog daily...Well, she and some of her readers are just starting to read the book "Wicked." I just picked up my copy and am going to start it this weekend. It's a prequel to Wizard of Oz and it tells the story of the Wicked Witch before she became wicked. I don't know much more about it, but I can't wait to read it. After we read the book, we are going to paint witches. So if you want to join in with us, I would love to discuss the book with you and see your witch paintings.

One Commission Finished and One to go!!!

Ok, this is the absolute LAST time I am going to paint this girl! It is my 3rd one and I'm over it. I want to move on!!!!! I did add some eyelashes on this one and the cat is orange! I have one more commission and it is the Flying Fairy sketch that I posted earlier. I am excited to start that one and then my cute little Dutchie girl after that!!

Mini Vacation

I have been recovering from a mini vacation my family took this past weekend. We spent two days camping at Carlsbad State Beach and we had such a great time. It was so beautiful there and I took some pretty cool pictures of the sunset that I thought I would share. We came home on Sunday and I am still trying to catch up on my sleep and now have seemed to come down with a terrible summer cold (aren't those the worst?). I haven't done much painting because of this cold, but I really am feeling withdrawls coming on...

NEW SKETCHES

I have been having some fun sketching. The Fairy is a commission I will be doing next week and the Dutch Girl was inspired by Suzi Blu. She has a lot of Dutch blog readers and she did a sketch of a cute Dutch Girl. She encouraged her readers to draw one as well, so here is my version.

I'm still here!

I'm sorry I haven't posted for awhile! I have been busy with kids and their summer activities. I am going to start on another commission tonight and have some new sketches to share. It's strange when you start to get requests for paintings that you have already done. It's not as fun. Hopefully I will be able to paint what I want soon, so I can continue to try new things.

Princess Sophie is finished!!!!

This was so fun! I added glitter to the crown, wings and the star. I also added jeweled and chipboard letters for the title. The painting is cute, but not half as cute as the real Sophie; she is such a little doll!!

Princess Sophie is almost complete!

My mom has been in town visiting since my husband is away on business and I have been slackin' on my painting. Well last night I got most of it done. I just need to paint the sides, add some more elements to the front and glitter, glitter, glitter! The little girl who is getting this painting is turning 3 years old and her room has been re-decorated in all pinks, purples and Fairies. Her mother informed me that she thinks she is a fairy princess and that I have to make sure she has wings! So I made her some huge wings and I am going to cover them with iridescent glitter! This has been a really fun project. I love little girls, fairies, princesses and glitter...

Commission in Progress

Here is a painting I have been working on for the daughter of a friend of mine. It is called "Princess Sophie." I still need to do the face (obviously). I am going to try and finish it tonight; if I do then I will post it tomorrow.

BUSY PAINTING COMMISSIONS!!

I have been really busy with commissions, but it has been very fun painting until 1 am in the morning (not so fun the next day though). This painting is a modification of another painting I did. The other girl has black hair and her dress is purple. I have to do another one of these for someone and then a fairy princess for someone else. I will post the progress of the paintings! The Beauty in Ugly...Lesson for All

I think this song is so beautiful! Apparently it has been on "Ugly Betty" because the video has clips from the show. I don't watch the show, but Jason Mraz is my favorite artist (see earlier post from when I met him recently). Anyway, listen to the lyrics and comment on what you think about the song. I would love to know...



Also, I am working on 2 commissions right now and will post them when I am finished. Both are going to be similiar to paintings I have already done, but they will be slightly different to suit the buyers requests.

Good Night Moon-Sister painting is complete!

Here is "Good Night Stars" sister painting. I am going to sell them as a set in my Etsy Shop. They are really cute IRL and it going will be hard to part with them. I have also made some prints of some of the paintings I haven't listed in my Etsy Shop (because I just can't part with the originals), so look for those soon.
