Twinkling H2O's and Finished Panting!

I finished my girlie and I think I am going to make a sister for her. I'm going to do another 6X6 to go with this one with a little girl and a moon. I want to tell you about a new product I used on the painting. They are called Twinkling H2O's by Luminarte. They are little wells of a dense powder that you mix with water. They turn into a watercolor, but they are extremely shiny and sparkly! I used the iridescent color to coat over my paint. I tried to get a good photo of how shiny it is so you can get the feel of them. Hopefully I did an ok job. They come in any color you can imagine and I totally want to get brighter colors and try them out. Right now I only have iridescent, gold and bronze. I originally found out about them in the Scrapbooking/Stamping world, but I really think they are great for mixed media as well. There is a 6 step demo on YouTube on how to use them with stamps. Just type in Twinkling H2O in the search engine. Let me know if you have ever used these before and how you like them.

My first purchased Prints and The Stargazer!

I recently purchased some beautiful prints from Pam Carriker and finally got them framed. They look so gorgeous on my green wall and match perfectly. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! Pam is one talented lady!

I also just sketched this little girl on a cute little 6X6 canvas. I am hopefully going to get a chance to finish it after the little one goes to bed tonight.

Peace

Painting Painting and more painting!

On Fridays my son goes to daycare at our good friend's house so that I can do some cleaning and have some mommy time. Well yesterday I got so much painting done and I was just in heaven! I finished my Landscape class paintings. I added some more shading on the trees with charcoal pencil, painted the sides and added berries to the trees. Then I started a little painting on a 5X7 wood block I got from Michaels for $1. I was inspired to paint on wood by Suzi Blu. She paints all of her paintings on wood and even uses a wood burner to outline her subjects. I didn't go that far, but I liked the feel of the wood. The paint really absorbs into it well and it was easy to shade. I finished off the piece with hot beeswax. Let me know what you think.

Painting Finished!

Ok, so I was up until 2am working on this and I'm pretty happy with her. I'm just not sure what I am going to name it yet. I finished off the piece with mica powders and beeswax.

Painting in Progress Part 2

Here is the second part of my current painting. I painted some trees and flowers and decided at the last minute to paint a cat. This is my first cat and I'm pretty happy with him. I love cats, but unfortunately I'm allergic to them. I grew up with cats and never had a problem, but somewhere along the line as an adult I became allergic...go figure. Anyway, let me know what you think so far. Please leave a comment. I love to read them and get to know who is looking at my blog!

New Painting in Progress

Well, I started this new painting from one of my sketches and I like how it's coming along so far. I sketched the girl and the hills at the same time and I wish I would have done the hills first and then put her over them. It was difficult to paint around her. I am also going to add some flowers and trees. I hope you like it.

Back to my creative Roots!

I have been busy painting two 12X12 landscapes for my mom, so I haven't been able to paint any of the sketches I have been working on. I am going to paint tonight, so I will take pictures of the progress and post them hopefully tomorrow. So, I thought I would post a few of the scrapbook pages that are near and dear to my heart. I haven't scrapbooked in awhile because I have been fulfilling my new found passion of painting, but I really miss it. I wish there was more time in the day...Anyway here are some pics. I hope you enjoy them.

I'VE BEEN TAGGED!

I have been tagged by Sharon Tomlinson (http://allnorahsart.blogspot.com/), one of my favorite bloggers and artists!!

The rules of the game are:

1. Link back to the person that tagged you.
2. Post these rules on your blog.
3. Share six unimportant things about yourself.
4. Tag six people at the end of your entry.

Ok, here goes....Hmmmm

1. I spent a good portion of my Sophomore year in high school trying to learn how to form a bubble on my tongue and then blowing it off. (weird...I know)-I can still do it BTW.

2. My name was ALMOST Buffy instead of Shonna. Thank the Lord, my mom didn't name me Buffy. My married last name is Bucaroff (arghh!).

3. I'm really good at doing the running man and have been known to do it any time requested of me (ok, I realize I just dated myself ).

4. When I was a Junior in high school, we had to take a career test that gave us a list of professions we should consider. My whole list consisted of being in the film industry (Actor, Director, Screenwriter, etc.). I thought that was funny; I do love movies!

5. I love ice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

6. I love putting A-1 sauce on my mac n cheese! Mmmmmm! Try it!!

Ok, now I have to tag some others....Hmmm

I feel like 1 more...

Peace!

Landscape Class Lesson 5

I think we are going to paint the sides in our last lesson and that is it. So this is pretty much the final product. I am very happy with it. I had some bubble issues, but it really isn't that noticeable. I'm sad the class is going to be over soon. What am I going to do with no classes??? Actually, I am looking forward to taking what I have learned and making lots and lots more paintings!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!

I received the most beautiful card from my husband today for Mom's Day. I felt like he had it made just for me. Since I was 14 years old, I have always had a job. When my son was born in 2005, I continued to work full time. I was in the Mortgage biz and my job was very stressful. By the time my son was 1 1/2, my heart just wasn't in it anymore. I wanted to raise my son. My mom was a single mom and she missed so much of me growing up. Someone else taught me how to do all of those milestones we go through as children. As my son was getting older he too was starting to meet those milestones...without his mother. My husband knew how stressed I was and recognized the importance of our son being raised by his parents and not by strangers. It was his suggestion that I just quit my job and stay home full time. As much as I wanted this, it was very scary for me. Like I said earlier, I worked practically all of my life. Would I be able to do this? We would be losing a good chunk of income as well, would we be ok? Well here we are a year later and I absolutely love being home with him. My husband also works from home, so our kids really have the ideal situation (even though they don't realize it). It has been such a blessing, that I have been able to see my son grow and learn on a daily basis. I get to do things with him that I would never be able to do if I were working. My husband and I are able to go to all of our daughter's High School Softball games (at 3:30pm) and there is no way I would be able to do that if I was still in Mortgage Hell. Yes, the finances are tough especially with the way the economy is the way it is today, but I wouldn't change it for the world. If I ever doubt the decision I made, I will definitely refer back to the card My husband gave me today. He also bought me some beautiful pink Oriental Lily's. We will plant them in our yard. He gave me some beautiful red ones three years ago and we planted them. They have grown into such an amazing plant (I have included pictures of them as well as the new pink ones). Oh, I also got some cool new art supplies too! Whoo Hoo!

The Dreamer

I have been very inspired lately! I have been sketching a lot and really want to get them all on canvas. Here is one that I just finished. I really love the colors, but the picture doesn't really convey them properly. I want to make a light box so bad, but I really don't have anywhere to keep it right now. I finished off the piece with beeswax and then smudged the top with oil pastels and mica powders. Anyway, I hope you enjoy her as much as I did while painting her.

"Faces" Class Painting is Finished!

I had so much fun in this class and I'm sad that it's over. I met some really cool people and everyone grew so much throughout the process. I feel like I have grown and my portraits and art from now on should hopefully reflect what I've learned. I am naming this painting Jennifer. I just think she looks like a Jennifer... I think I will add her to my Etsy shop today.
